Local support for children and families

Finding the right support can take time. These Southend and Essex organisations offer places to connect with other families, activities for children and young people, and advice about autism, ADHD and SEND. Little Heroes ASD Support Group
A Southend group offering support and activities for families of autistic children, including children who are awaiting a diagnosis.

The Hang Out Venue
A relaxed community space in central Southend where children, young people and their families can spend time together, play and connect.

Step Out Essex
Social groups and a community for neurodivergent young people and young adults aged 11–30. Some groups meet at The Hang Out Venue.

SENDIASS Southend
Free, impartial information and advice for children and young people with SEND and their parents or carers, particularly around education and the support available to them.

Southend SEND Local Offer
A starting point for finding local SEND services, activities and information, including support at school and Education, Health and Care Plans.

Southend SEND Independent Forum
A parent carer forum where families can connect, share their experiences and have a voice in local SEND services.

Lighthouse autism and ADHD support sessions
Support sessions and workshops for families in Southend and surrounding areas. Families do not need a diagnosis to attend.
